Teaching

Jane studied at Colchester Institute gaining a BA Hons in Music. She continued training at The London College of Music where she gained a Post Graduate Certificate in Singing. There she was awarded the Ceri Childs Memorial Prize for singing. Jane has also gained a certificate in ‘The Art of Teaching Singing’.

Recently, Jane has completed training in levels 1-4, becoming certified in teaching the ‘Stave House’ method in teaching the theory of music.

Jane currently teaches singing privately in her own practice as well as working peripatetically in secondary and primary schools independently and with Essex Music Services, teaching keyboard/singing/guitar.

Jane has given vocal workshops for adults, conducted children’s and adult’s choirs and has organised student concerts for charity to a very high standard. She has also adjudicated Singing in The Chelmsford Festival Of Music And Drama.

In September 2015, Jane formed, ‘Little 2 Big Voices’, two weekly vocal classes for children aged 7-18yrs. With at least 3 performances a year – all students gain valuable platform experience and grow in confidence in their technique and vocal skills.  There is an option of taking vocal exams.

Jane has been teaching for over 25 years and is highly respected in the profession. She brings her considerable skills to the task of developing each student’s potential with an effective and efficient vocal and breathing technique, the Accent Method. Many of her students have entered singing competitions and graded examinations with great success and excellent results.

Numerous students have furthered their training, gaining much desired places in professional Music Colleges and Theatre/Dance Schools.  Some of her former students have maintained a career in music, including; teaching music/singing, performing in the West End in London, Girl Bands, Directed Musicals, Country Singer, Opera Singer.

As well as a teacher, Jane is a highly trained, versatile soprano with wide performance experience behind her. Jane has imparted much of her passion and enthusiasm for performing music to her students. She has enjoyed teaching an age range from 6 – 80 years.
